Mrs. Ella B. & Mr. Charles H. Chase were members of Collingswood Presbyterian Church for many years and were immensely active in the work of the church. Mr. Chase served as Secretary of the Board of Trustees from 1916 until 1958, and was elected Secretary Emeritus upon his retirement.  Mrs. Chase was active in the Sunday School, the Women's Association, and the church choir (over the years she furnished much of the choir music which continued to be used until CPC closed).

Following Mrs. Chase's death in 1952, Mr. Chase established a memorial fund in her name, and formalized the fund on October 2, 1957 by creating a formal deed of trust called the "Ella B. Chase Memorial Fund."
